Tech Meets Impact: MyWangu Shines at the Tanzania Annual ICT Conference

Today marked an exciting moment for TechForward Tanzania as we participated in the Tanzania Annual ICT Conference held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam. The event brought together innovators, policymakers, and change-makers across the tech landscape—and we were proud to be right at the center of it.

Our spotlight moment? Presenting MyWangu, our AI-powered chatbot, to none other than the Hon. Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology, Jerry Silaa. His interest and enthusiasm were a powerful affirmation of the work we’re doing to use technology for social good.

MyWangu isn’t just a chatbot—it’s a trusted companion, providing confidential, accurate, and youth-friendly information on critical issues like HIV testing, prevention, and treatment adherence. In a world where misinformation spreads fast and stigma still lingers, MyWangu is breaking down barriers and giving young people access to life-changing support—right from their phones.

The Minister’s response reaffirmed the importance of building digital tools that truly respond to community needs. His encouragement energizes us to keep pushing forward and scaling this innovation to reach even more adolescents and young people across Tanzania.

As we stood among some of the country’s brightest tech minds, one thing was clear: technology is no longer the future—it’s the now. And when we put it in the service of people, especially the most vulnerable, we spark real, meaningful impact.

This is just the beginning. With strong partnerships, innovation, and community at the heart of our work, we are ready to drive forward a healthier, more connected Tanzania.
